p0951.jpgSony Ericsson, and their marketing team has done a great job promoting their new phone W810i. By putting a demo phone in the cab:

1) They are targetting the wealthier group of people, called Taxiers
2) Boredom will strike them at one point, and the passengers will be interested to try out the demo phone.
3) Even if boredom doesn’t strike them, they will still be tempted

Imagine yourself, sitting in a cab from Serangoon to Orchard and the Taxi Driver is tuned in to some chinese oldies channel, and you left your iPod at home for whatever reason.

You have 3 options:

1) Slack, view the nice green Singapore
2) Play with your handphone, old boring crap which you do everyday
3) Try out the new Sony Ericsson W810i

If you are a neutral phone user whereby you are not biased against SE, you will probably be selecting option 3.

And if it all works out, the passengers should be dumping their Nokia for some Sony Ericssoning, or the other way round where people choose Nokia over SE because they think SE designers suck balls.
