Well, Odex, initially I didn’t know that you existed until you decided to create a PR-disaster by suing your own customers. And then this huge boycott thing followed up. And erm, I sort of got influenced and didn’t even take a look at animes nowadays. Well, at least not those sold in Singapore.
I had rather ship it from Amazon.
Thank you, have a nice day.

Odex was never going after the paying customer. They were simply going after the ILLEGAL downloaders. What part of “aginst the law” don’t you people understand? Sure it could have been handled differently, but at the end of the day, if you think the bread at the local bakery sucks, does that give you the right to steal it. The sad part is that the illegal downloads have brought down two major distributors, not to mention the 240 people employed by them. The next step will be that the production companies themselves that hire animators, actors, writers, directors, producers, marketing people, unable to sell product because it hits the net before they can sell it, will also be brought down, and these “whiners” won’t have anything left to ILLEGALLY download, or even buy for that matter. I guess that the sentiment felt by many is that it’s ok if you don’t get caught. Well I would like to hear the reactions of these same people when they lose all forms of entertainment simply because people won’t be able to survive as artists, directors, musicians etc. The industry is already tough enough, especially for new upstart companies trying to survive and employ these talented people. What’s next? If it doesn’t stop here, the future looks very bleak indeed. This ignorant attitude with total lack of forsight is typical of “freeloaders”. And if we don’t stand up to it, we are just as guilty..S
Well, I’m not exactly complaining about Odex going after the ILLEGAL downloaders, but rather, the quality Odex provides. One good example is the one I came accross on the internet, with two Initial.D screenshot of the same scene, one from Odex’s video, the other being video available for download, being fansubbed. Supposedly the character mentioned in that scene is called “Daiki”, meaning Big Tree literally. Odex in fact, subbed it as “Big Tree” instead of “Daiki”, which proves it’s complete failure. What for grabbing the rights so fast, if Odex can’t even provide DECENT subtitles? To be honest, I rather watch quality anime, by hook or by crook, than paying for some shit.
