Went out for dinner with Ben, Cleo & Simon to Serangoon Gardens. Went to Chomp Chomp and ordered pretty a lot of stuffs. After eating we went to Ice3 for our desserts. Ate 2 “Ring of fire” which is a total of 16 small scoops of ice cream?

Pretty fun day but went home quite early cause Cleo had to go home to play Mahjong, hahhaa.

Before I start, I would like to give the credits of the photos to Pohli.

I took the photos off her blog and edited the colours a little.

UOB Now Card

15May08

UOB sent a mail to both my Sister and I today regarding the TX card, coming together with it was the UOB’s new Debit Card called “NOW” which, I think looks ugly, but my sister loves it (because it’s red). Probably it’s a card more suited towards the girls than guys.

Comparing it to the old UOB’s TX card, which is blue in colour and has fanciful design, I prefer the old TX anytime.

To those who haven’t receive it, you will soon.

EDIT: The card can be used as an Ez-link card as well! Which may or may not be a good thing since 2 ez-links can never go together in the same wallet.

Nice day today

14May08

Just cleared up my Mac OS and things are looking good now. Not so bloated dock, clean desktop and a nice wall paper. Even though my iMac runs only 512mb only (well I have been talking about bringing up to 2gb but…), it still runs much faster than my laptop (T7100 with 2gb ram) which runs Vista OS.

Start-up time for MAC OS and VISTA OS greatly differs. I got my iMac free from Singnet promotion, seldom used it and now I shifted it out to my study area.

Anyway school was great today. After tutorial we went to lunch, then went to the student lounge where we joked a lot… it was hilarious. Went to MBS lecture and now i’m back, just finished my MBS tutorial for tomorrow’s MBS lab. Nice weather :) Feel like sleeping.

Melbourne

North-Westerly View XIII
Do take a look at this photographer’s beautiful HDR album.

Basically what happened today was that, in a lecture, a short briefing and list was passed around the lecture theatre asking those who are interested in the Melbourne study trip for 6 days 5 nights to write their names.

It’s unconfirmed price was stated to be at $1800.

I did wrote my name, but not too sure if I will be willing to part with $1800 for a 6 days trip to Melbourne. A place which I have went a couple of times because my brother was educated there around 6 years ago.

But still the place is no doubt beautiful, and I aim to be educated in Uni Melb.

‘No Hope’ for children buried in China Quake - IHT
Death Toll in China quake rises to nearly 12,000 - IHT

I think the ‘Chinese’ response to the earth quake victims has in fact been very efficient. That’s the good part about China’s expansion. They are self-reliant and do not need any donations to keep their relief efforts going. Also, i’m pretty sure their made in China tents will help the survivors much. God Bless them.

Now lets take a look at Burma/Myanmar’s relief effort, as at 6:50pm today:

Retards!!! Those Junta should be bombed, killed, hanged, mutated and whatever, I don’t give a shit and will NEVER pity them.

Both the United States and Britain have considered ‘air-dropping’ aid into Burma even without the Junta’s permission. The situation could be chaotic, which means fighting your way through and killing people just to delivery aid to help others.

Time has wrote an article on ‘Is it time to invade Burma’

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (STEL.SI: Quote, Profile, Research) and its mobile associates will bring Apple Inc’s (AAPL.O: Quote, Profile, Research) popular iPhone to Singapore, India, Australia and the Philippines later this year, Southeast Asia’s largest phone company said on Monday.

I went to Queensway Shopping Centre today together with Don & Eugene, basically to buy my new pair of running shoes since mine was spoilt (and bought pretty long ago). It spoilt once, so I went to repair it, glue the sole back for $2. But soon after it came out again, so decided to get a new pair. I wanted a pair for $40 but couldn’t find any. So in the end I gave up and got the pair for $108.

Don got his tennis racket restringed, and Eugene got his tennis shoes.

Went over to Ikea and saw many beautiful stuffs :D, I just love Ikea such a nice play to be at. Things that looks good and reasonably priced.

What I really like most are the tables. Join 2 together side by side to have a super huge one :)!

Ate dinner and went home after that. I went jogging and back now chatting on MSN.

Happy Birthday! Get well soon :D!

Some background information:

The house I am currently staying in, is a rented house. And my room comes with a built-in dressing table, which I use it for my studying desk and laptop use.

More information and look-about my room available here.

My table was in a huge mess, wires everywhere and all that, so I decided to dump everything into the drawers, remove my keyboard (which has a super long wire) and my wired mouse. Going to get some wireless treats for myself, to reduce the clutter on the table. Probably at SLS.

My Home Office

An iMac setup, nothing else but a monitor screen. All-in-one. Looks pretty good eh?

Or would you prefer a Macbook Pro:

I personally prefer the Macbook Pro over the iMac (perhaps because I already have one, but it’s the old all-white version which I got it from Singnet). I like the sleek design.

I’m not buying a new laptop or iMac, this post was made because i’m just curious which would you prefer. If the iMac cost 2.4k and the Macbook Pro cost 3.1k (that is very expensive!)

Just bought another book on Amazon, it was recommended on "The Economist".

I went to search for "Three Cups of Tea" on Amazon and found it. Five Full Stars with 938 reviews (so far)… It must be a damn good book! And since the price is USD$8.25, I bought it. But it comes with a USD$9.8 shipping charge to Singapore.

But anyway I think saving on dinner, and using the money to buy the book is more than worth it. Don’t believe in spending on expensive food anymore.

Will receive in I think, a week time. So far all my Amazon purchase have been really punctual even though the estimated delivery date is 2 months from now (but it always arrive within a week).

Number one on my list: Maldives… You can’t go with your family because it’s not a family kind of tour, it is more or less a destination for couples. Photographing Maldives

image I just had my haircut, at around 5pm, after I came home from school. Decided that my hair was in a mess and off I went to Heartland Mall for my haircut.

I went to the $10 shop, which is seriously just a small little shop, a very very very small shop.

The China Man, working today with a Singaporean woman. Since the woman was serving a lady, I got the China Man. And he was the one who cut my hair the last time anyway. I been there once before, Joel Zee brought me there. Remember?

Since all I wanted and needed was just to ‘thinner’ my hair, and basically flatten the sides since it has became a mushroom (which means I got to wax my hair every morning to flatten the sides).

The end result was satisfactory, it was good and I like my hair, not too thick, not too short, and best of all, $10!

When results is greater than expectations (result > expectations), the customer will be rather satisfied.

No wonder the other place which I used to patronise closed down, they charged me $18 the last time I went. And i’m cutting my hair now for half the price.

I bought a magazine today, it’s "The Economist", the first time i’m actually reading it. I have been reading "Reader’s Digest", "National Geographic", "TIME" and all other interesting magazines (such as interior designs), but nothing came close to its price. $12 for a freaking magazine~!!! And to make it worse, it’s a weekly issue.

Of course, you can get it at a cheaper price if you were to subscribe, but I subscribed to TIME anyway, cheaper… subscription price is $3.

Economist after-subscription price is still $7. But no doubt it’s a nice magazine to read, but not economical.

Download Kelly Services Salary Handbook 2008/2009

Source: http://www.kellyservices.com.sg/

Original link is this. Anyway it’s just a guide to the starting and max salary you can get in the industry. So perhaps the Poly students will want to use this as a rough guide to what you want to do in life.

The death toll climbed as fast as GTA IV sales, all in just 1 day. I received the email from BBC (breaking news alert) a day ago, which is the image on the left, saying the death toll was just around 4k. And it’s now 22k at 8pm. While searching for more info, I read a Myanmar blog saying it’s as high as 50k.

After reading it, I posted a Twitter here. Basically, what it says is… go donate money! You can do so by going to this url.

I know Mother’s Day is coming and most of you are cash tight, but just do something to make a life greater, just for USD$25, or click "others" and donate any amount you like. A little amount makes a big difference :).

Help those affected in Myanmar after the devastating ‘Cyclone Nargis’ left over 30k homeless and 22k dead by donating http://is.gd/cC5
